Amar Giri elected as PWA chairman

KATHMANDU, April 14:: A general convention of leftist writers unanimously elected poet and critic Amar Giri as chairman of Progressive Writers Association (PWA) on Sunday.



The ninth general convention of the leftist writers in Nepal also elected the 91-member national council and 45-member central committee. Mitralal Pagyani has been elected as general secretary of the organization whereas Matrika Pokhrel, Gopal Thakur, Satya Pahadi, Sashidhar Bhandari and Hiramani Dukhi have been elected vice chairpersons.[break]



Similarly, R M Dangol and Bishnu Bhandari have been elected as secretary and treasurer, respectively.



Giri previously served as general secretary of the organization whereas Pangyani is currently the vice chairman of All Nepal Writers Association.



Speaking at the function, newly elected Chairman Giri stressed on fighting the challenges in the Nepali literary sector.
