KATHMANDU, July 25: The Anti-Corruption Struggle Committee has sought action against former Constituent Assembly (CA) members for failing to bring the new constitution even after causing a significant loss to the state coffers.

Organizing a press meet in the capital Wednesday, the Committee has charged the former CA members of wasting time by doubling the term of the CA and thereby deceiving the people. The Committee has, therefore, demanded restitution from them for wastage of valuable time and resources.

Committee campaigner Sharada Bhushal said all the 601 members played a part in promoting corruption and irregularities in different sectors of the society.

The state coffers were squandered due to the irresponsibility of the 601 CA members, she stressed.

It is worth mentioning here that the Supreme Court rejected registering a PIL filed by the Struggle Committee on 22 July, demanding action against the former CA members from the citizens´ side.

The Struggle Committee also expressed grave concern over rejection of the writ, which it said, has suppressed an issue of public concern.
