KATHMANDU, June 3: A group of 61 former lawmakers belonging to the Nepali Congress on Sunday demanded the reinstatement of the dissolved Constituent Assembly arguing there was no constitutional provision to hold a second CA election.

"Altogether 98 percent of the works of the constitution making was completed by the dissolved CA. Only the issue of the state restructuring was not resolved. So it is in the best interest of the country and the party to reinstate the CA to resolve the remaining tasks of the constitution making," said former CA member Jiban Prem Shrestha. [break]

Shrestha said CA members from the party who were still in Kathmnadu had signed a statement demanding the reinstatement. He said discussions would be held with former CA members from the UCPN (M) and the CPN (UML) in this regard in the coming days.
