"Although the banda was supposed to be peaceful, we found 52 cases of rights violation mostly from the Maoist side," the regional in-charge of Insec, Shiva Khakurel, said, adding, "During the strike in the western region out of the 16 districts, 15 were severely affected with educational institutions, industries and traffic remaining closed."

He also said that in comparison Kaski, Rupandehi, Parbat and Lamjung districts witnessed violence during the banda. Manang was declared banda-free after the parties there struck a deal after the first day of the banda.

Khakurel further informed that during this time while 65 people were injured in 11 separate incidents, 36 people were thrashed in four cases.

According to the report, eight vehicles were burnt in seven places and infrastructure at 24 places was vandalized in 23 incidents. Similarly, 36 protesters were arrested in seven incidents.

Insec, however, expressed happiness over the minimized use of stones and logs in the streets and less burning of tires. Also, the movement of ambulances, vehicles carrying essentials goods, rights observers, drinking water and that of the diplomatic services was not obstructed, the report said.

Stating that during the strike the basic rights of the people were compromised, Insec has said that it is especially concerned about the use of children, sticks and rods during the banda.
