Renowned for his evergreen hits like 'Orali lageko, harin ko taal bho', 'Malai yo jindagile kaha puryayo', and 'Bihana Uthne Bittikai' to name a few, singer Ram Krishna Dhakal is loved by people of all ages. He has won legions of fan thanks to his captivating voice and has even been dubbed the present day Narayan Gopal. A person who firmly believes music has the power to heal, he recently released his latest song 'Mann mann jutau' dedicating it our nation suffering at present. Another number 'Ma sipahiko pani timro jastai mann cha' was also released recently. It sings praises for the army forces of Nepal who have restlessly been working for the country and fellow countrymen. Here, he shares with Republica, five lesser known things him.

He is afraid of flights

Dhakal denies being an acrophobic, but says flights make him anxious. "I'm a sensitive person and things get easily onto me. Maybe that's the reason why sudden jolts in an airplane make me super nervous. If the plane goes smoothly and doesn't jerk, I feel a bit secured," he says. On many occasions, the singer has even tried to take a ride rather than a flight. "But since it's not completely avoidable, I meekly comply," he shares.

He's trained in martial arts

Even though he always dreamt of becoming a singer ever since he was young, he managed to take a karate class when he was 12 years old. "I joined the class out of interest but only earned the orange belt. However, I formed a cordial relation with my guru Mohan Rai, which exists even today," he shares.

He cannot dance!

Besides being an incredible singer, Dhakal has also acted in a Nepali film 'Ashirbad' and several of his own music videos, and performed several times on stage, but there's one thing of the showbiz he hasn't mastered yet—dancing! "I'm the worst dancer ever. I somehow manage to move a little on the stage, but please don't ask me to do more that that!" he chuckles. He even took a dancing class for over a month but that didn't help at all.

The band played 'Risauda ni aafnai' on his wedding

Most of his songs are sentimental—not quite the kind of songs that make it to a wedding playlist. So when the band came from the army, they really couldn't decide which song to play from Dhakal's playlist. "After thinking for a long while, they finally came up with 'Risauda ni aafnai' which seemed at least playable for the wedding," he recalls.

He is a fast driver

Dhakal is passionate about driving and while he's at it, he likes to do it on full speed. "If our police were stringent about speeding like they are about drinking and driving, then I would certainly be in a lot of trouble. I've been driving for 15 years, so I'm a careful driver. But I love driving in speed. By now even my family has become accustomed to me," he says.
