Kumari Tamang´s daughters -- Chhiring, six, and Mingma, 10 -- and tenant at Tenzing Sherpa´s house Hira Kumari Basnet, 25, of Kangel, her three-month-old daughter and 11-year-old sister Manju Khatri died when the landslide buried two houses at around 9:30 in the night.
Kumari, 32, was rescued alive and is undergoing treatment at Pasang Lhamu Nicole-Nicky Hospital in Lukla, according to Inspector at the District Police Office, Solukhumbu Pyare Lal Lama.
“It was pretty difficult for police to carry out the rescue work due to the difficult terrain, but the boys managed to rescue one alive and find all the bodies,” Lama said. Lama said rescue efforts are still continuing in the village around 20 km north of district headquarters Salleri.
