4 KMC garbage vehicles set ablaze after minor crushed to death

KATHMANDU, March 11: Nuwakot locals have set four garbage carrying trucks of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) on fire after a truck, Ba 1 Kha 9726, heading to Okharpauwa landfill site killed a minor on Wednesday.

A three-year-old boy died on the spot after being hit by the truck heading to the landfill site carrying garbage near Kolpu Health Post today. The agitating locals have set two dozers, one loader and a tipper on fire.According to Hari Kunwar, Chief at Environment Department of KMC, irate locals also vandalized the landfill site-based KMC office at Okharpauwa, Nuwakot, after the garbage vehicle crushed the child to death.

The incident has been tense following the accident, KMC further informed.
