2 tremors felt across central region today

KATHMANDU, May 17: Two aftershocks have rocked the central region on Sunday.

With these tremors, the number of aftershocks following the Gorkha earthquake has reached 240 so far.


According to the National Seismological Center, the 239th aftershock with 4.4 in the Richter scale struck at 5 am with Dolakha its epicenter while the 240th one rocked the central region at 11:30 am, with its epicenter in Ramechhap district today. Ramechhap is the new epicenter following the Gorkha earthquake.

The devastating Gorkha earthquake measuring 7.6 in the Richter scale that struck on April 25 has been followed by 240 aftershocks above 4 so far.

The earthquake death toll has reached 8,567 as of today.
