KATHMANDU, Oct 10: At least 17 people were injured when a vehicle heading to Rukum West from Nepalgunj met with an accident in Gureli Khola of Kumakh Rural Municipality-3 in Salyan district.
Among the injured, three individuals in critical condition have been referred to Nepalgunj for further treatment. The three were initially brought to Chaurjahari Hospital, but due to their serious condition, they were subsequently transferred to a more equipped hospital for advanced care.
The accident occurred on Thursday morning when the jeep Lu 2 Kha 5002, heading from Nepalgunj to Chaurjahari in Rukum West, crashed in Gureli Khola along the inner road section of Devasthal in Chaurjahari.
According to Inspector Dharmendra Khadka at Ragechowr Police Station, 17 out of the 20 passengers aboard the vehicle were injured. Sixteen of the injured were rescued and sent to Chaurjahari Hospital for treatment.
The driver, Basanta Budhathoki, 22, from Kumakh Rural Municipality-3 in Salyan, fled the scene immediately after the accident. Police suspect that the accident may have occurred due to a brake failure in the vehicle.
