17 injured in clash over tearing off of poll posters

SARLAHI, Oct 17: Seventeen people were injured in a scuffle between the supporters of Tarai Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP) and Madhesi People´s Rights Forum-Democratic (MPRF-D) in Godaita in Sarlahi district on Thursday over tearing off a fly-poster.



According to the locals, the supporters from the both the parties used sharp weapons and spears in the clash. The clash ensued after MPRF-D activists and supporters tore off the posters of TMDP candidate of constituency no 5, Jangilal Raya. [break]



According to Jangilal Raya, removal of his posters by supporters of MPRF-D invited the clash.



Five MPRF-D activists, who have received serious injuries during the brawl, have been referred to the Naryayani Sub-Zonal Hospital in Birganj for further treatment, according to health workers at Sarlahi district hospital. A dozen TMDP were also injured in the incident. They have already returned home after minor treatment.



Superintendent of Police Rabindra Bahadur Dhanuk informed that investigation into the incident is under way.
