Guitars from Eddie Van Halen, Eric Clapton and Aerosmith as well as autographed memorabilia from The Beatles and even strands of hair from Kurt Cobain are some of the highlights of an online rock ‘n’ roll auction that ends over the weekend.

Grunge became gold Saturday as the guitar Kurt Cobain played on Nirvana’s 1993 “MTV Unplugged” performance months before his death sold for an eye-popping $6 million at auction.

A cardigan sweater worn by Kurt Cobain during Nirvana's last photo shoot went for $75,000 this past weekend. Meanwhile, a pizza plate used by the frontman sold for $22,400 at the same time. Both items were put up by Julien's Auctions, the celebrity-centered auction house announced Saturday (May 18).

On the 25th anniversary of Kurt Cobain’s death, dozens of people left flowers, candles and handwritten messages at a Seattle park near the house where the Nirvana frontman killed himself.

Kurt Cobain would be 52 today if he was still alive. Frontman of grunge band ‘Nirvana’, Kurt took his own life at the age of 27 in 1994.
