NEPSE surges 28.62 points, daily turnover rises to Rs 4.08 billion

KATHMANDU, May 14: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Tuesday increased by a notable 28.62 points to close at 2,027.51 points.

The secondary market opened at 1,998.89 points and witnessed minor fluctuations until the first 40 minutes of the commencement of trading. The index however escalated successively in the remaining trading hours before the market closed for the day.  

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies also climbed 3.60 points. The daily turnover increased to Rs 4.08 billion from Rs 3.40 billion on Monday. 

All the 13 trading groups had their indices increased in the intraday trading. While non-life insurance achieved an incline of 190.02 points, microfinance and life insurance groups also posted three-digit gains to their market values. 

Among individual companies, 219 were recorded as gainers whereas 22 were the losers.

CEDB Hydropower Development Company Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 158 million. Samaj Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was the topmost gainer, while Himalaya Urja Bikas Company Limited lost the highest of 4.64 percent of its market price.
