BIRATNAGAR, Dec 27: Most of marketplaces here have been closed on Sunday fearing possible protest by United Democratic Madhesi front (UDMF).

However, transportation service is operating in the city.

Local entrepreneurs have feared that the front will intensify protest after Chairman of Sadhbhawana Party Rajendra Mahato among others got injured as they clashed with police yesterday.

Although there is less presence of protesters, large numbers of security personnel have been fanned out to avert any possible incident.

Morang Police Spokesperson Pramod Kharel said they won’t allow protesters to close market and transportation.

Meanwhile, import and export has resumed through Biratnagar entry point.

According to Kharel, 40 cargo vehicles including six gas bullets have already entered Nepal through the border point, adding that vehicles have been escorted to their destination.
