Prez endorses govt decision to mobilize NA for disaster management

KATHMANDU, May 20: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav endorsed the government's decision to mobilize Nepal Army until mid-July for the rescue of quake victims, relief distribution and reconstruction of the infrastructures destroyed in the quake.

"The President has endorsed the government's decision to mobilize Nepal Army until mid-July," a statement issued by President's Office on Wednesday reads.

The president is the supreme commander of the national army but the president can take any decision only upon the recommendation of the council of ministers."As per the recommendation of the Security Council, the cabinet meeting decided to propose to the president to mobilize the Nepal Army for the purpose of carrying out various tasks of disaster management," said Minister for General Administration Lalbabu Pandit on Monday.
