Compared to last year, sales at both expos increased. “The number of visitors increased by 20,000 and sales were also better than the last year,” said Pashupati KC, event director of Direction Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC), the event manager.[break]
According to traders, sales at the expo have been better as it is the wedding season and the prices have also been competitive. Wedding and Gift Expo-2012 featured 80 stalls displaying an entire range of wedding related products and services like shirting and suiting, catering, music band, flower and decorators, furniture, boutique, greeting cards, perfumes, jewelry, exclusive gift items, ritual accessories, among others.
In the expo, entertaining side events like bridal fashion show, bridal make-up, photo exhibition of famous weddings, photo shoot, free Mehendi and talk programs focusing on the wedding ceremony and its importance were organized.
“The number of visitors increased this time around because the expo offered counseling service for those who are planning to go for marriage in the near future and will also arrange a priest for the wedding,” KC told Republica.
Similarly, the 5th Children Expo-2012 had around 70 stalls, which displayed various products and services for children. Many schools brought their children to the expo.
“We are the first in the country to introduce the concept of wedding management,” said Siddhant Rimal, event manager of Welcome Wedding, who took part in the expo for the first time. “We participated in the event to promote our business and educate people about wedding management,” said Rimal.
