Aire family disconsolate over loss of two members

MAHENDRANAGAR, Oct 20: Loss of two sons in Tuesday´s crash of a Britten-Norman Islander plane of Nepal Army in Baglung district has left Jahar Singh Aire and Kalawati hysterical.



The couple´s son Raghubir, a policeman, and Keshav, a soldier, died in the RAN 49 plane crash. Raghubir´s wife Bisna and Keshav´s wife Leela are yet to come to terms with the loss. In fact, a pall of gloom has descended on Dungri village, Basuling -9, Baitadi. [break]



Police have been sent to the village after information arrived that the bodies of the deceased would be brought by a helicopter to the village. The cops have been waiting from early Wednesday. But the helicopter had not arrived till late Wednesday evening.



“It looks like the bodies can be cremated only on Thursday morning,” Keshav Aire, a traffic policeman and the family´s relative, who reached the village after hearing about the tragedy, told over phone.



Jahar Singh had invited both his sons home for Nawaratri observed during the Dashain festival. Elder son Raghubir worked at a prison in Dhangadi, Kailali while younger son Keshav worked at Singh Sardul Gulma, Humla. Both the sons had reached Dungri village for the festival.



Raghubir had arrived with his wife Bisna and two sons from Dhangadi. Keshav, whose wife Leela lives in Baitadi with her in-laws and a three-year-old son, also reached home for the festival.



After Keshav developed fever, Raghubir took him to Seti Zonal Hospital, Dhangadi, immediately after the Dashain festival, said Nanda Singh Aire, a relative.



“After the fever did not subside in Dhangadi, he was sent to Nepalgunj Sunday evening,” Nanda Singh, who lives in Dhangadi-3, told over phone.



Nanda Singh, who saw off the two board a Se 1 Kha 611 jeep for Nepalgunj, heard about the tragedy Tuesday night.



“Raghubir had said he would return from Nepalgunj and had asked me to look after his house,” said Nanda Singh. “I couldn´t believe when I heard about the tragedy,” he added.







Raghubir had joined the Nepal Police 10 years ago. He had taken a week´s leave after Dashain to look after his brother. Keshav had joined the Nepal Army six year ago during the insurgency. Keshav had married four years ago.



After the death of the two, Jahar Singh is left with just one child -- a daughter, who is married.
