KATHMANDU, Dec 19: Doctors have highlighted a surge in the number of patients suffering from seasonal diseases as the cold weather intensifies. Major hospitals in the Kathmandu Valley report an increase in the cases of swine flu (H1N1), viral pneumonia, cold, and bacterial pneumonia.

CHITWAN, Feb 27: Over 2,800 pigs have died in the district due to African swine fever, incurring a loss of over Rs 62 million, said the Veterinary Hospital and Livestock Services Expert Centre, Bharatpur.

BEIJING, June 30: As many as half of China’s breeding pigs have either died from African swine fever or been slaughtered because of the spreading disease, twice as many as officially acknowledged, according to the estimates of four people who supply large farms.
