The economic performance of any nation state requires an in-depth analysis of its various social and political determinants; to truly understand if and how a state “succeeds” or “fails” in implementing economic schemes requires an analysis which is holistic and multidimensional.

Rich-country governments must deliver on their solidarity promises. They need to donate vaccine doses immediately to protect frontline health-care workers in vulnerable countries.

The best way to help poor countries obtain more doses is to reach an international agreement, presumably through COVAX and the WHO, to coordinate the allocation of available vaccines.
