PANCHTHAR, July 28: The death toll in the Phidim jeep plunge has hit three. The latest victim has been identified as Isetima Sherpa, 26, of Mikwakhola Rural Municipality-5 in Taplejung district. She died at the B&C Hospital, Birtamod, Jhapa, said Milan Thapa, the information officer for the district police office, Panchthar. She was referred by the district hospital, Panchthar.
PANCHTHAR, June 19: The team of the Nepal Army (NA) has rescued 12 people who were trapped due to flood and landslides in Panchthar following incessant rain. A total of 12 people from three houses, who were trapped since Sunday night, were rescued this morning with the help of a helicopter belonging to the NA.
PANCHTHAR, June 18: All five persons, who went missing in a swollen Hewakhola river in Panchthar, have been identified. The river connects Phidim rural municipality and Hilihang rural municipality in the district.

KATHMANDU, Nov 11: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is travelling to Lobrekuti of Phidim municipality, Panchthar today to mark the birth anniversary of Mahaguru Falgunanda Lingden. Earlier today, the PM recognized the contribution of Mahaguru Phalgunanda to conserve and uplift Kirati religion, culture and customs. With the election date inching closer, political parties have intensified their election campaigns. Reports say that they are reaching out to voters wherever they are- in their home or wherever they are working. However, such election hype does not seem to have gripped some districts- one of them is Panchthar. Locals of several villages and towns in Panchthar lament lack of election campaign related activities in their localities. PANCHTHAR, Jan 5: Sarala Regmi of Phidim-1 of Panchthar district spares three hour of her time for football from 2 to 5 in the afternoon. Her daily routine has changed since the beginning of the Falgunanda Gold Cup Football Tournament that kicked off on December 30 and she is planning to give continuity to this habit until the tournament concludes on January 8.
