With the time, Nepali fashion and modeling fraternity is spreading its wings at international glamour scene. In similar context, recently Nepali fashion choreographer and media person Rojin Shakya conducted a grooming session for a national level Indian pageant.

Monika Shrestha is a model and student of fashion design. For her first-ever official shoot, the 21-year-old collaborated with DS Collections. Since then, she has worked with many professional photographers and brands such as Lane 88, One Tree Stop, Nepacraft, Anthropose, Lakhey Nepal, Mheecha, Yuresha, and AP Couture to name a few.

Priyanka Rani Joshi, who was crowned first runner up in the fourth edition of the En Vogue modeling contest in 2016, started modeling when she was 17 years old but she confesses that she never thought of modeling as a career option. Rather, it was just a hobby for her. Joshi says she has always prioritized education above all else and modeling was something she got into because she chanced upon it.

Vagya Kachhapati has been modeling since her high school days. The 19-year-old rising modeling star joined the industry after becoming the runner-up of House of Fashion’s En Vogue series in 2017 and has, till date, featured in numerous advertising campaigns and walked equally many runway shows.

Malika Mahat is a well-known name among Nepali youths. The 19-year-old model has firmly established herself as one of the most popular Instagram stars of Nepal with over 76k followers on the social media. Now, after successful modeling stints, she is making her acting debut in the upcoming movie Yatra: A Musical Vlog, alongside Salin Man Baniya, Salon Basnet, Jahanvi Basnet, and Rajaram Poudyal among others. Directed and written by Samrat Shakya, the movie is set to release in April this year. The Week’s Anweiti Upadhyay caught up with this up and coming actor to talk about her experience while shooting for her first film.

KATHMANDU, Oct 28: Swastika Pradhan of Bhaktapur has bagged the title of Nepal’s Next Super Model - 2018, leaving behind several fledgling and commercial models in a contest held in Kathmandu on Friday.

Dear Sadichha, I am a 20-year-old girl from Hetauda. My mother is abroad, and I live here with my father and sisters. Recently I have started feeling depressed as my father has started an extra marital affair. I did not believe in rumors. But I found out about his affair on my own, which left me hurt and angry. I could hardly maintain my normal relationship and bonding with him.

A few months back, we started quarreling and he wanted to create space between us for some time. I recently came to know that he had started seeing someone else. However, we’ve decided to move to the USA after our bachelors. However, he is doubtful about us being together because of family issues. What do you suggest I do?

KATHMANDU, Sept 30: Modeling in Nepal is at an early stage.  People hardly make modeling as a full-time career.  Consequently, many parents don’t yearn to see their children in this field. Nonetheless, Aditi Adhikari -- 17, an aspiring model, is blessed with supportive parents. Despite having a science background, her parents still support her.   “When I realized my interest in fashion and makeup, my parents encouraged me to follow my interest,” says Adhikari.

Charlotte McKinney has had a busy year. But the 23-year-old model is more than ready for a break.
