PPMO blacklists 11 companies

KATHMANDU, Feb 13: The Public Procurement Monitoring Office (PPMO) has started the process of blacklisting 11 more construction companies and suppliers.

KATHMANDU, Jan 29: The Public Procurement Monitoring Office (PPMO) under the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has blacklisted 22 builders for poor performance. These builders have been blacklisted for periods ranging from one to three years.

KATHMANDU, Dec 11: The government has blacklisted 12 construction companies. The Public Procurement Monitoring Office (PPMO), under the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers, blacklisted these 12 companies based on written recommendations from various public bodies.

KATHMANDU, Oct 3: The Public Procurement Monitoring Office (PPMO), operating under the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, has taken decisive action by blacklisting a dozen companies due to unsatisfactory performance.

For over a decade, Nepal has been grappling with the consequences of being blacklisted by the European Union (EU) in terms of air safety. Despite the efforts of the Nepali side to convince them to take Nepali airlines companies off the blacklist, the EU continues to ban 20 Nepali airliners from operating within its member states.

Blacklisting Not Enough

The government has taken action against some erring construction companies. Issuing a public notice on November 30, the Public Procurement Monitoring Office (PPMO), which keeps track of government contracts, blacklisted 12 contractors for delaying construction works and/or breaching the contracts. According to the PPMO’s notice, these blacklisted construction companies have been barred from participating in any bidding process initiated by the government for varying time periods.
