MANANG, March 5: An avalanche occurred at Dhukurpokhari of Ngisyang Rural Municipality in the district, causing inconvenience to people's movement.

KATHMANDU, Dec 7: The search and rescue operation for world-record climber Tenzen Sherpa, who went missing in an avalanche on October 7, will commence next year. The current season for mountain climbing and search and rescue has concluded, and efforts to locate Tenzen and others will resume in the coming year, according to Thaneshwar Guragain, the General Manager of Seven Summit, the company affiliated with Sherpa.

KATHMANDU, Oct 10: The world record climber and mountain guide, Tenzen Sherpa (Lama), has gone missing in an avalanche at Mt Shishapangma (8,027 meters) of Tibet, China.

Four people trapped in avalanche rescued

GORKHA, Sept 26: Four people trapped in an avalanche at base camp III of Manaslu mountain in North Gorkha have been rescued. Two persons who were caught in the avalanche were rescued by helicopter and sent to Kathmandu for treatment while another two persons were rescued from camp III and brought to camp II, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police of District Police Office, Gorkha, Leelaraj Lamichhane.

POKHARA, Sept 26: At least one person was killed and nearly a dozen others injured in an avalanche that occurred in the Mountain Manaslu located in Chumanubri Rural Municipality-1 of Gorkha.

Fifteen yaks killed in avalanche

MYAGDI, March 6: Fifteen yaks have died in an avalanche that fell from Manapathi mountain in Thasang Rural Municipality of Mustang on Saturday.

MYAGDI, Dec 31: A team of the Nepali Army returned after reaching out to the survivors of an avalanche at Gurja in Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-1 in the district. The Army team from Kathmandu reached the incident site along with relief materials and a rescue team on a helicopter following the avalanche.

Setback for tourism

Two incidents of the past week in Nepal are deeply worrying for the prospects of tourism at a time when the country is celebrating Visit Nepal 2020 during which Nepal aims to bring in as many as two million tourists. Both incidents are related to death of tourists. On Friday, massive avalanche hit the Deurali area of Annapurna Rural Municipality-11 in Kaski leaving four South Korean nationals and three Nepalis missing.

KATHMANDU, Jan 23: The government has suspended search and rescue operation for four South Korean trekkers and three Nepali guides who have gone missing following an avalanche in Annapurna region since Monday.

At least 10 people lost their lives and 12 others were wounded after a snow avalanche struck a village in northern Afghan province of Badakhshan, a local official said on Saturday.
