LAHAN, May 17: Tensions have risen in Laxmipur Pattari Rural Municipality-4 of Siraha after more votes were found in the ballot boxes than the total number of votes cast. As many as 823 more votes were found in the ballot box, which was more than the total votes cast in Ward 4 of the rural municipality.
LAHAN, Dec 26: Members of the Janamat party led by CK Raut vandalized over a dozen vehicles in Siraha on Sunday while protesting against the arrest of a person allegedly involved in stealing wheat seeds stored by Aourahi Rural Municipality. The accused was arrested by police in Siraha.
KATHMANDU, Dec 25: The Armed Police have seized about 30 kg of marijuana from the border area of Aurhi Rural Municipality-1 of Siraha District today. The marijuana, which was being smuggled from Nepal to India was seized by the Armed Police Force, Nepal Border Out Post Bariyarpatti.
SIRAHA, Dec 19: A youth was killed in a fight between two groups that broke out at Golbazar Municipality-6 of Siraha late Saturday. Ram Kumar Sadaya, 25, died in the course of treatment after he was stabbed by a knife. Similarly, Nikesh Sadaya, 18, was injured in the fight.
MADAR (SIRAHA), Sept 12: A patient has died as she could not be taken to a hospital after the Armed Police Force personnel ignored the request of her relatives to open the border checkpoint at Madar in Siraha district. Waheeda Khatun, 40, of Ramaul in Siraha Municipality-4 died on the Indian side of the border as she could not be provided treatment on time.

SIRAHA, Jan 31: More than 21,000 new voters have been added in Siraha. A total of 21,010 voters including 11,006 male and 10,004 female were added to the list of voters in the district, according to the District Election Office.

SIRAHA, July 23: A famous nursing home in Siraha has drawn attention following the detention of Dr Shambhu Kumar Yadav for performing a selective abortion at the facility. Mirchaiya Nursing Home, situated at the Mirchaiya marketplace of Siraha, is considered both expensive and well equipped. Dr Yadav’s case has reached the district court, and the police are actively investigating the incident.

SIRAHA, March 16: On March 10, a team from the District Police Office (DPO), Siraha, arrested a truck with an Indian number plate from a go-down near the Customs Office of Madar Bazar of Siraha-17. The truck (Br 06 G 2612) was found carrying goods with no receipts. Though police were successful in seizing the truck, the smuggler and the driver ran away.

During holidays, such crowds are seen on the banks of the river in summer as well as winter. SIRAHA, Dec 11: Known for his crusade for reforms in the country's medical education, senior orthopedic surgeon Dr Govinda KC has conducted free health camps in poverty-stricken settlements in Siraha district. Dr KC who arrived here in Lahan on Sunday, provided free health check-up to the locals in two nearby settlements of poor and marginalized communities on Monday.
