SIRAHA, Dec 17: Police have arrested an Indian national for his alleged involvement in robbery in different districts of Madhesh Province. The police nabbed Indian national Arif Hussain, known as Arif Khan from the Nepal-India border area in Siraha on Saturday.
According to Birendra Paswan, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and information officer for the District Police Office, cases of robbery and organized crime have been registered against Hussain in various places in India and Nepal.
He was also a defendant in an incident where a group of five armed individuals threatened with pistols and looted Rs 3.8 million from the branch of NMB Bank located in Mahottari Rural Municipality-2, Mahottari on May 30, 2023.

Similarly, DSP Paswan said that he was also a defendant in the incident of brandishing a pistol to an employee of Global IME Bank who was carrying money on February 22, 2023. Hussain robbed him of Rs 900,000.
DSP Paswan said, “Investigation revealed that Hussain is involved in several other theft and robbery incidents. However, not all cases are registered against him.”
According to the police, there is a group of Indian robbers who are committing organized crime in Nepal and the arrested Hussain is the main leader of the group. Mahottari police have arrested some other people of the group.
DSP Paswan said that the group has been involved in thefts and robberies not only in Nepal but also in India, and the Indian police have announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for anyone providing information about them.
