Youths stress for autonomous mechanism

KATHMANDU, May 21: Minister for Youth and Sports Ram Kumar Shrestha has said that his ministry is preparing a policy targeting youth empowerment in the country to address the situation of brain drain.



Speaking at the program organized on “Young Champions for Change,” Shrestha mentioned that the ministry is also negotiating with the Ministry of Finance to increase the budget in the next fiscal year to make the programs fruitful. [break]



Around 40 young participants of the program shared their experience on challenges and opportunities for youths in the country. National player Dipak Bista, writer and novelist Buddhisagar, Amar Neupane stressed on need to form a separate autonomous mechanism that would coordinate with all the government and non government bodies on youth oriented program across the country.



Likewise, UNICEF country representative Hanna Hanna Singer stressed in the need of developing a youth focal point in all ministries. She added that the state also need to prioritize youth involvement in policy making for a collaborative effort to empower them.



Editor of BBC Nepali Service Rabindra Mishra, Singer Ani Chhoying Dolma, Swarup Acharya, Shiva Pariyar and Chairman of the Nepal Automobile Dealers Association Saurabh Jyoti also participated in the program.
