Police in Kaski recently bumped into Thakur Bhandari, 23, at a rented room of his friends at Fulbari following a week-long rigorous search for him by the police and the family. [break]
Bhandari had reportedly departed from his home at Dawunbari, Narayanbari-9 in Nawalparasi district, on June 29 for Butwal where he has been doing a CMA course. A week later, he sent SMSs to his brother Sundar and a few friends requesting them to rescue him from captivity.
“We notified the police and also began searching for him restlessly after we got texts from his own mobile,” said Sundar. “He nagged not only the family, but many others too."
Thakur had kept his mobile on call diversion mode while he had been sending horrible texts to his family and friends.
“He said that a kidney-stealing gang would make him black out while he was sleeping and shift to different places in an unknown jungle,” Sundar added.
The Bhandari family had arrived here after the Nawalparasi police said his mobile had been operated from Fulbari and Ranipauwa areas in Pokhara. The tip-off succeeded.
“We heavily mobilized our forces in respective places and found him out. Bizarrely, he was staying with his friends,” said spokesman of Kaski Police Prem Basnet.
“He was well treated by friends who were quite unaware of how he was rendering trouble to the family,” added Basnet.
The police handed the pseudo-abductee over to the family.
“We had met his every demand, but I cannot say why he did such a weird thing,” said Sundar.
