Since its inception, the YI awards have produced over 20 alumni who now lead at different levels in all sectors of Nepali life. [break]
With the strong belief that ´Young people are not just tomorrow´s leaders but are partners of today´, Youth Initiative has been working to inform, empower and involve youths in their own personal development and that of their communities.
As part of its efforts to empower and involve young people, it will reward five young leaders with an award amounting Rs 20,000 each to help fund their innovative ideas, leadership, entrepreneurial or social development project.
The award could focus on anything from youth leadership development, peace building, youth entrepreneurship & employment and environmental conservation (climate change) to agriculture, health, tourism promotion, youth activism and non-formal education.
The winners will also get the opportunity to participate in the Leadership Development Training. To be eligible, one must be in the 15-29 years age bracket. Applications will be accepted until 25 May 2010. For more information, log on to www.youthinitiative.org.np.
