Nepal ITF Junior U-18 Circuit One

KATHMANDU, Feb 8: Young Nepali players’ journey has ended in the last 16 round of the ongoing Nepal ITF Junior U-18 Circuit One Tennis Tournament on Wednesday.
At the Satdobato Tennis Complex, Pranab Khanal in boys’ singles, and Mahika Rana, Ira Rawat, Anne Mathema and Prerana Koirala were defeated in girls’ singles matches.
In boys’ singles, India’s Jaisbhin Sidana defeated Khanal 6-3, 6-0. Bansh Bhagtani, Prasanna Prabin Bagade, Anurag Agrawal and Naithaolin Calvin Galmai also booked their quarterfinal tickets.
Bhagtani beat Laos’ Pathikone Kanyaphan 6-2, 6-1, Bhagade defeated Thailand’s Tanapat Nirundhron 6-4,6-2, Galmai saw off Pakistan’s Mohammad Nauman Aftab 6-2, 6-2. Likewise, Agrawal made it to the last eight after Yang was retired hurt.
Similarly, Japan’s Taiyo Ahrano overcame India’s Rishab Agrawal 6-0, 6-1, while Japan’s Taisi Kageyama beat China’s Gyuanglin Wen 6-1, 2-6, 6-1. Also, China Taipei’s Chiya Phan Tisawo crushed China’s Gyuangsen Wen 6-4,6-1.
In girls’ singles, Yiming Dang saw off Rana 6-0, 6-2, Hong Kong’s Chui Kei Liyung beat Rawat 6-3, 6-0, India’s Shree Nidhi Shreedhar defeated Mathema 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 and the United States of America (USA)’s Rituja Chafalkar thumped Koirala 6-2, 6-3.
In the quarterfinals of the girls’ singles, the Rana siblings Mahika and Mayanka’s pair was defeated by India’s Asprit Kaur Bajwa and Punyataya Mohapatra 6-3, 6-3, the pair of Koirala and USA’s Chafalkar was beaten 6-3, 6-2 by the pair of Liyung and India’s Shanya Singh. Also, India’s Smriti Bhasin and Hridaya Shah saw off pair of India’s Shreedhar and Nepal’s Prakriti Shrestha 6-4, 6-2.
