KATHMANDU, Sept 9: The Young Communist League (YCL), youth wing of the UCPN (Maoist), has threatened the government with retaliation if it does not revoke the revival process for conflict-era cases, arguing that such revival would derail the whole peace process.

Holding a press conference on Monday at the party head office at Parisdanda after concluding its first national conference, the YCL urged the government to halt the revival process immediately. [break]

"Don´t provoke us. We warned the government that we would also register cases against security officials and political parity leaders who murdered our comrades during the insurgency," said Ganesh Man Pun, YCL chief.

He informed that the YCL would prepare a list of all killings from that of Krishna Sen to the Doramba incident.

Sen, a poet and editor of the Janadisha daily newspaper, was killed in police custody. In the Doramba incident, 18 people including unarmed Maoist leaders were killed by security personnel. After Doramba, the Maoist returned to hostilities, accusing the governement of breaching the ceasefire.

The YCL also demanded formation of the truth and reconciliation commission immediately.

The UCPN (Maoist) has activated the YCL after a long time and just ahead of the fresh constituent assembly (CA) election. The YCL has decided to deploy 200 youths per each election booth.

The YCL was formed just before the last CA election, out of the cream of the People´s Liberation Army (PLA) commanders in the cantonments, under the leadership of then PLA fourth division commander Ganesh Man Pun.

The YLC was active against irregularities at government bodies in the past. But its controversial activities only defamed the mother party.
