DOLPA, May 22: The collection of Yarsagumba or the caterpillar fungus in Dolpa district will be open for the public from May 25. This was decided by an all-party meeting convened by the District Coordination Committee (DCC) Dolpa.
The meeting chaired by DCC Chief Sher Bahadur Budha at the district headquarters Dunai on Saturday was held with the participation of the chief representatives of various district bodies. The meeting decided to allow the collection of the Ophiocordyceps sinensis in Shey Phoksundo National Park and various community forests until June 24.
Stating that ordinary people have not been able to collect Yarsagumba for a long time due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting decided to open Yarsagumba collection for a month this year. Residents of the buffer zone, within the district and outside the district will be charged different entrance fees for Yarsa collection as per the National Parks Act and regulations.
