The order was passed after a preliminary hearing on the 12 different writ petitions filed at the apex court against the dissolution of the HoR.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari had dissolved the HoR at the recommendation of Prime Minister K P Oli on Wednesday. Although the writ petitioners demanded an interim order against the decision, the apex court has denied issuing any such order.

The decision to dissolve the HoR has sparked protests all across the country. This has also led to the formal split of the ruling Nepal Communist Party into two separate parties. Both the factions of the NCP are currently struggling to secure an official recognition as NCP to their faction.
