They have also pressed the management to introduce life insurance facility for workers, distribute service charge collected from clients and deposit the amount deducted for provident fund.[break]
The workers started the protest from Saturday. They worked with black bands on arm on Sunday and also stopped work for half an hour. They also shouted slogans against the management. The workers are in protest at the call of All Nepal Hotel and Restaurant Workers´ Association (ANHRWA).
The workers have announced to bring operation of the hotel to a grinding halt if their demands went unheard. “We were forced to announce strike as the management turned deaf ears to our demand,” said Suk Bahadur Gurung, the president of ANHRWA´s Fulbari unit told Republica. “If the management failed to fulfill our demands, we will be forced to take tough decisions.”

Gurung said they were compelled to launch protest as the management has stopped providing the workers their share of the service charge collected from clients. “Many workers won´t be able to celebrate Dashain if they do not get the service charge amount,” he added. He also said the workers were yet to receive Dashain allowance.
The workers said they have already informed district administration office, labor office and Western Regional Hotel Association of Nepal about the protest.
The management of the resort refused to comment on the protest.
The 160-room resort has 260 workers.
