KATHMANDU, March 13: As the route is prepared for climbing Mt Everest in two seasons every year, this year the work of making the route for the spring season has started. This campaign, which started last Friday, will continuously run for one month.
According to the Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee (SPCC), the organization responsible for the construction of the Mt Everest climbing route, it has been difficult to build the road due to insufficient snowfall this winter.

The executive head of the committee, Chhiring Sherpa, said, “Every year new routes have to be prepared because the previous route opened for climbing are blocked by snow and potholes.”
“Another reason to build the route is the fact that the structure changes every year up to the second camp, where there are many glaciers and snow pits and cliffs,” said Executive Chief Sherpa.
According to him, ladders, ropes and other materials are used to make the way safe for climbing Mount Everest. This work is done by experienced icefall doctors. There is a 10-member team to build the road in this area. Out of them, eight experienced icefall doctors have been assigned to pave the way this season.
Since 2054 BS, SPCC has been working on building a road to the second camp of Everest in collaboration with the Department of Tourism. Executive Chief Sherpa said that after the SPCC has prepared the route leading to the second camp to climb Mt Everest, the work of constructing the route above it will be done in conjunction with climbing professionals.
