Wooden log, IED greet Dahal, Nepal in Rautahat

RAUTAHAT, Nov 8: An unidentified group has placed a wooden log and improvised explosive device (IED) at Lamaha along the East-West Highway prior to Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and UML Senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal’s election campaign in Rautahat.



A wooden log has been placed across the highway 3 km west of Chandranigahapur bazaar where a can with sign ‘danger’ was tied to the log, said Chandranigahapur Area Police Office.[break]



Assuming that the suspicious object could have been an improvised explosive device (IED), a bomb disposal team of the Nepal Army was deployed to the incident site.



Chief District Officer of Rautahat district Dil Bahadur Ghimire said the bomb disposal team has safely defused the IED.



CPN-Maoist cadres have been placing wooden logs and IEDs targeting Dahal’s election campaigns.
