They claimed that the women were being subjected to abuse by their family members who torture them for bringing less dowry, for not serving them and giving birth to girl child. They also blamed the police of abusing them instead of helping.
The women´s agitation intensified after the police refused to register complain against the accused involved in the murder of Rekha Tamauli of Shamshergunj 6. Rekha was poisoned to death by her husband a month ago.
