They claimed that the women were being subjected to abuse by their family members who torture them for bringing less dowry, for not serving them and giving birth to girl child. They also blamed the police of abusing them instead of helping.
The women´s agitation intensified after the police refused to register complain against the accused involved in the murder of Rekha Tamauli of Shamshergunj 6. Rekha was poisoned to death by her husband a month ago.
The women also claimed that the police refused to file a case against the accused in thrashing Gudiya Baghban of Paraspur last week. The agitators also submitted a memorandum to the PMO and Home Ministry through the CDO seeking security, end to domestic violence and lasting peace.
