KATHMANDU, Feb 29: The third iteration of 'OWN IT Nepal' – a one-day leadership summit for young women organized by Women LEAD Nepal is being held in Kathmandu on Saturday. The summit seeks to bridge the gap between female leaders and the young women who aspire to be like them by organizing accessible events for young women from all demographics. The first iteration of this event was held on 31st March 2018.

Women LEAD Nepal is a non-religious, non-political, and non-profit organization.

Until now this organization has empowered more than 3,000 young women and adolescent girls to become leaders and changemakers in their schools and communities through various courses like the year-long LEAD Course, the School Leadership Program (SLP), and the Young Women's Political Leadership Institute (YWPLI).

Through this summit the organization aims to fight the stigma around what it means to be a woman within Nepali society, promote and discuss intersectional feminist values, and ultimately bring together young women who are eager to change Nepal through the means of art, business, journalism, politics, public service and more.

The organizers believe that the summit will be a platform for young women to interact with the female leaders they look up to and create a space to learn from them. The summit will have two different panel discussions. Te first panel will have discussions with 'Women Who Made It Big in 2019': Bonita Sharma, Prativa Pandey, Ayasha Shakya, and Sonika Manandhar. The second main stage panel discussion is with three 'Women in Leadership and Decision Making': Manchala Jha, Yasodha Timsina and Mohna Ansari.
