Women in voters' education drive

CHITWAN, Oct. 24: Mostly woman volunteers have been deputed in voters´ education program in Chitwan that is in place to reduce invalid voting in the run-up to the November 19 Constituent Assembly (CA) elections.



The District Election Office has put forward the idea with belief that mobilization of woman volunteers would make voters´ education effective. [break]



Of total 141 volunteers deputed in 141 polling centers in the district, only four are men, said Chitwan District Education Officer Hari Dhakal.



The voters education program has begun in villages in Chitwan from Tuesday.



Similarly, women share 60 per cent of total 63 election education activists deployed in the district, Dhakal added.



The volunteers have reached out to villages with different 11 items of election education materials including samples of ballot paper, election posters and pamphlets.
