The woman has been identified as Jyotshana Tamang, 35, originally from Darjeeling of India, who was running a boutique at Bhatbhateni since the last few years. Tamang, a divorcee since the last six years, had been living in Kathmandu with her six years old daughter at Pragatitole, Dhumbarahi, where her body was found lying on the street in a semi-naked state right below the bathroom window.As per the preliminary findings, the deceased and her partner, identified as Pritam Manandhar, 38, of Maitidevi-33, had drunk alcohol till midnight and engaged in intercourse.
Manandhar has claimed that the tragedy happened after he was called into the bathroom by the woman to have sex again. Manandhar, who was held soon after the dead body was found, told the police that the woman fell off from the window that lacked grills after while they fought over an issue related to another girl, allegedly, closer to Manandhar.
Manandhar told police, "We pushed each other during the fight but she fell off the window and the tragedy happened."
DSP Dipak Regmi of Metropolitan Police Crime Division, said, "Instead of calling the police or ambulance or making any attempt to save her, he went to bed to sleep."
Pabitra Limbu of Khumaltar, a friend of Tamang who was sleeping with Tamang's six years old daughter in a separate room, tried to wake up the couple in the morning, she got no response, according to the police.
Locals called the police around 5 am after they found Tamang's body lying on the road. The police nabbed Manandhar, who is unmarried and operates a restaurant at Bhatbhateni, under suspicion.
Manandhar has been sent to Metropolitan Police Circle Office, Maharajgunj for further investigations.
