The mother-in-law, Sita B.K., was arrested four days after she killed her daughter-in-law Masali B.K. from her relative´s house at Lokanthali-16, Bhaktapur. [break]
Police said Sita was found hanging from the ventilation rod inside the custody room at the Metropolitan Police Circle, Thimi at 6 a.m. on Tuesday.
Sita had been absconding after attacking her daughter-in-law with sickle. Police arrested her from her relative´s house in the night on October 16.
Police said Sita might have committed suicide when all the police personnel had gone for the regular flag-hoisting ceremony in the premises of the Police Circle.
Sita´s body has been handed over to her family, police said. Superintendent of Police at the Metropolitan Police Range, Bhaktapur, Rajendra Shrestha said an investigation is underway into Sita´s suicide.
