The mother´s involvement in trafficking came to light after Sita Darjee, 21, a resident of Dhahran- 18 called her husband from Lucknow to rescue her. [break]Sita, who left for Bahrain on December 9, was taken to Lucknow and held captive since.
According to DSP Rajendra Bista, the police was able to track all the agents except one on the basis of the statement of the victim.
“In course of tracking the traffickers we came to know that Sita´s own mother Sarita was also involved. She has already confessed her involvement,” he said.
However, Sarita, a resident of Dharan - 18 told Republica that she did not intend to sell off her daughter. The police have also arrested Yam Pariyar of Itahari and the victim´s relative Indramaya Darjee.
“I was totally unaware about her (Sita´s) plans. She had spoken about it just with her mother,” said Sita´s husband Ramesh Rajbanshi. “I came to know that she had been held captive only after she called me up,” Ramesh added.
Ramesh has filed a case against Sarita, Indramaya and Yam who had promised her a job in Bahrain. Bista stated that the police are still searching for Tika Limbu of Urlabari, the mastermind.
