KATHMANDU, May 16: The relatives of inmates languishing in various jails across the country demanded amnesty to the prisoners and their release along with promulgation of the new constitution.

Organizing a press conference in Reporters Club Nepal on Wednesday, members of the Kaidi/Bandi Pidit Sangh, claimed that most of the inmates are serving their time for crimes which they haven’t committed.

Accusing that the criminals with political reach are walking free and have not been brought to justice, they demanded evacuation of all prisons, while promulgating the new constitution.

Surakshya Thapa, coordinator of the Sangh said at a time when the country is undergoing such a drastic socio-political change and heading towards progress, inmates should also get their chance to participate and contribute to development of the country.
