He also urged the lone prime ministerial candidate Ram Chandra Poudel to immediately withdraw his candidacy to pave the way for political consensus.[break]
“He should immediately withdraw his candidacy,” said Bhattarai.
Dr Bhattarai also said there is a truth in UNMIN Chief Karin Landgren´s statement that the country may see presidential rule, military coup, or the “revolt” of the Maoist party.
“The foreigners spoke what they saw,” said Bhattarai. He said his party would go for a revolt if the peace process and constitution drafting fall prey to conspiracy.
Bhattarai, who left for his home district Gorkha on Saturday, said his India visit turned out to be fruitful in many ways, adding that India was also willing to accept a Maoist-led government.
He reiterated that the UCPN (Maoist), as the largest political party, should lead the new government. Since he came to Gorkha, Bhattarai has been busy meeting local party leaders as well as civil society leaders.
