SALYAN, Aug 24: People of the northern part of Salyan are forced to spend sleepless nights due to wild boar menace. Wild boars have been really problem for the people of Mulkhola, Devsthal and Ghanjari for three years.
This time also, a sounder of boars from the nearby jungle moved in the villages and damaged grownup maize and millet crops before the harvesting season.
Wild boars damaged maize, nut, ginger, turmeric crops and root vegetables, Mahendra Budha of Mulkhola-5 said. We lay sleepless all night to protect crops from further damages by boars, he said.
The people of Mulkharka and Devsthal have been facing this problem for the past three years. This season, wild boars have already damaged crops planted on 200 ropani of land. The locals beat steel dinner plates, whistle and make a fire in the crops field to chase away boars. Sometimes they also suffer physical attacks from this wild animal. RSS
