Shobha Budhathoki, 32, has admitted to killing her spouse Thag Bahadur by strangulating him at midnight and hiding the body in the septic tank on June 2. [break]
Locals and elder brother of the 42-year-old victim started a search for him in the jungle and at relatives´ places after he went missing since June 2. His body was recovered from the tank after it started producing stench.
“We started to fear the worst after he was not found even after two days of intensive search,” Thag Bahadur´s elder sibling Nim Bahadur said. “The gaps around the lid of the tank were closed with clay. We started to feel some stench and saw his body at an unimaginable state when we opened the lid,” Nim Bahadur added.
The killer wife, who was unworried all the while, fled only after the locals went to the police to lodge a complain. Police nabbed her from Manera Freed Kamaiya Camp in Dhangadhi where she was hiding.
Shobha conceded that she killed him at around 1:00 in the night after he consumed two bottles of alcohol. She also claimed that a neighboring woman assisted her in the crime.
But Nim Bahadur claimed that Shobha has framed the neighbor due to old animosity and that she is innocent. He has lodged a written complaint against Shobha and two other men -- Raj Kumar Shrestha and Dhan Bahadur Lochak of Dhangadhi-12 -- in the murder claiming that Shobha had contacts with the duo.
The police have arrested the three named by Nim Bahadur and the neighbor named by Shobha for investigation. Thag Bahadur had only returned home last month after working for years in India. Shobha had married Thag Bahadur around nine years ago after divorcing her first husband and the couple has a 7-year-old daughter and a 5-year-old son.
The daughter had asked Shobha about the missing father in the morning of June 3 after not seeing him at home. Shobha however told her that she did not know where he was.
