KATHMANDU, Oct 11: A group of independent youths have staged a demonstration against the increasing number of rapes in the country in recent days.
The youths gathered at Maitighar in the capital on Sunday afternoon urging the government to introduce stringent laws against rape and bring the rapists to book at the earliest.
Break taboos to reinstate rape victims
The participants held placards that read “Am I safe?”, “Change the attitude, not attire”, “Hang the rapists to death”, “Why is government silent on rape cases?”, “Why is Nepal’s female president silent?” and chanted slogans in an apparent bid to exert pressure on the government to expedite investigations into rape cases and punish the culprits.
