KATHMANDU, Jan 16: Prime Minister K P Oli has asked why Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who leads the rival faction of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP), is worried when he makes the people laugh.
Addressing the leaders of his faction of the NCP from Province 1 in the capital on Saturday, Oli expressed his surprise to see some of the NCP leaders worried about his attempts to make people smile. “They say I keep making people laugh. I want to make the entire country smile. Some people are worried saying I made people smile. I have failed to understand why they are worried to see me make people smile,” he said.
The remarks of the Prime Minister come days after Pushpa Kamal Dahal alleged that Oli was becoming a joker. “Shall I now start killing people, making women widows, and making them cry?” asked Oli in a satirical way, alluding to the killing of innocent people during the decade-long Maoist insurgency led by Dahal.
Prime Minister Oli also claimed that his move to dissolve parliament had not left the country in trouble as claimed by the Dahal-Nepal faction. “The country is not in trouble. It is their worry for not being able to put the country in a mess. They wanted to damage the country. But we did not allow that to happen,” he said.
Prime Minister Oli said that although those leaders wanted to make people cry, he would not allow that to happen. “You had tried to make the people cry. You failed to do so and you won’t be able to do that again. We won’t let the people cry,” said Oli.
