Who's hip & who's not?

KATHMANDU, Sept 21: When I listen to music, it’s more so about the blend of music and lyrics. But sometimes the beats alone can do all the magic.

But as long as there’s music flowing through, it’s always a fascinating week! Add to that some “awesome” and “new” music releases, and it only gets better. [break]

Straight from the US of A to the blue shelves of Hits FM 91.2, these are some of the singles that are on the verge of making it big, and some of them, trust me, have already hit big while some are trying their best.

Crunchy beats and a video that will probably leave you red faced for a bit, LMFAO is creating quite a stir around town, and DJs are going to love this one.

Be ready for beats that you can’t resist! The American hot electro duo’s latest release, aptly titled “Sexy and I Know It” surely knows how to get the moves going.

Not much to sing to but the beats will leave you amazed.

As electronic music has taken over, Pop Princess (Queen now? Or is it still Madonna?) Britney Spears resorts to remixes too, and I must say I prefer the remix more than the originals.

Spear’s new song, “I Wanna Go” and its Oliver Radio Remix is a proper mix of beats that also make her sound good, not that she sounds bad, though!

Also, when it comes to electro music, David Guetta can’t be left out. The French DJ-turned-producer has teamed up this time around with Australian Pop and Jazz singer Sia for the song “Titanium.”

Amazing piece of music for you to dance to, and it doesn’t make you jerk your body too much. That’s the best things about Guetta’s music: you can dance to but still not be tired of it.

A refreshing feel after all the upbeat music came with Parachute’s new release “Kiss Me Slowly.” The lyric is, well, all about love (and lips) and bit too much, maybe, for someone’s metabolism, but it’s worth listening to.

Also, if you sway to some jazz music, Tony Bennett and Michael Buble’s latest release “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore” is a track that should be in your iPod, pronto!

Since Lady Gaga made her way into the music industry, she’s just been wooing people, be it with her crazy (meat) wardrobe or her music.

The Lady who makes people go Gaga has been creating sensations! Her new single out is called “You and I,” and the video also features her male alter ego Jo Calderone who also recently showed up at the MTV VMAs.

Taken from her current hit album “Born This Way,” Gaga hasn’t confirmed who the song is about but it’s said to be about her former love Luc Car whom she had made amends with. But we still love you Gaga!

All the while when you think rock and alternative genre is dead with electronic and pop music taking over, literally, some bands just prove that they are not! All-time favorite of many, alternative rockers Evanescence are back with their fresh effort, and although the group and their work fell apart in recent years, singer Amy Lee has reconnected with her second-generation band mates to make the Goth-alloy band’s third, self-titled album a reality.

The set features the single “What You Want?” and we do get what we want from the Grammy-winning group a rocking song! Disappointing, however, that not much music is coming out of genres like these.

Also, out with his new single is the former army officer and English singer James Blunt.

The You’re Beautiful singer hasn’t changed much, considering his singing style. But if you love him, then there’s no stopping you from listening to him. The song is titled “Dangerous” but it’s not, really!

The American Country Music group Lady Antebellum has also set on the loose their new song titled “Just a Kiss” and it’s totally worth listening to.

However, Katy Perry’s latest, “Last Friday Night (TGIF),” doesn’t seem to have the teenage dream impact, and the fireworks doesn’t seem to be flying any more. But it’s for you to judge.

Nicole Scherzinger’s “Wet,” however, might climb up the charts. With vocals like that, it won’t come as a surprise!
