GULMI, March 27: With local-level elections on the horizon, discussions within political parties are under way on who to nominate for various posts of two municipalities and 10 rural municipalities in the district.

Many political leaders and cadres have forwarded their names for candidacy.

Initially, the leaders are cadres were just promoting their parties, but now, they are more involved in choosing candidates.

As the number of prospective candidates is high, it is increasingly becoming challenging for political parties to unanimously endorse candidates.

Although parties are yet to officially announce their candidates, people are randomly picking their candidates and conducting promotional events.

Probable candidates are even organizing programs and visiting to voters' doorstep.

Locals say major political parties like the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist are likely to win most seats, while others say it depends who the parties field as candidates.
