Westerly winds bring winter rainfall

KATHMANDU, Feb. 6: Most of the parts in the central and western regions of the country witnessed rainfall caused by the westerly winds on Wednesday.



Meteorologist Rajendra Prasad Shrestha said the regions in the west of Pokhara experienced heavy rainfall compared to the east.



According to Shrestha, eastern hilly region would continue to experience rainfall from Wednesday night but the southern plains would remain affected.



As the westerly winds were gradually heading east, weather in the western region would improve from Thursday, he said, adding that as it was the last rainfall this winter, it would lengthen cold for some more days which would be coupled with fog in the southern plains.



According to the Weather Forecasting Division, Dadeldhura experienced the maximum rainfall of 29.8 mm today while it was 1.4 mm in Kathmandu.



Although days would become sunny days in Kathmandu now onwards, the Kathmanduities would continue to experience cold mornings and evenings for some more days.
