In the past, people who visited Dipayal were forced to go to Dadeldhura to spend the night because there were no good hotels in the town. But several modern hotels have come up in the district headquarters in recent times making the journey to Dadeldhura unnecessary.[break]
Three years ago, Padam Bohara built a three-storey hotel with an investment of Rs 15 million rupees. But with West Seti Project in the pipeline, he is modernizing his traditional styled hotel.
Four other similar hotels have also been built in Dipayal recently.
Similar are the stories of small restaurants. Once housed in huts, such restaurants are slowly modernizing their facilities and expanding their menus to provide Indian, Chinese and Nepali dishes.
We have invested in hotels by aiming at the West Seti Project," said Ganesh Bohora, manager of Hotel Barsha. "Now we have hope in hotel business in Doti.”
He said the movement of people in the town had increase quite a bit in the past two years and added that if the tourism to Khaptad areas could be tapped, the business would grow further.
Khem Raj Bhandari Chairman of Hotel Business Association Doti also said the main reason for new hotels in the town was West Seti project and tourists to Khaptad region.
"West Seti project should not be stopped under any pretext now," Bhandari said. "We can accommodate large numbers of tourists and provide them whatever facilities they seek right here in Dipayal."
Regional Administrator Doctor Hari Dahal said in the past regional level conferences and workshops were had to be held in Dhangadhi or Nepalgunj because the town lacked good venues. "But now, I am planning to organize a regional workshop in Dipayal and have asked for room tariff and cost of renting conference halls in the hotels."
